John & Courtney Publishing, LLC is an independent publisher based in McLean, Virginia. Founded by Keith Calhoun-Senghor and Liv Senghor, it aims to publish content that changes the conversation.

Profilbild Keith Calhoun-Senghor

Keith Calhoun-Senghor is an international attorney with more than forty years of legal, governmental, and business experience in the United States and Germany.

He served in the Clinton Administration as senior advisor to US Secretary of Commerce Ronald H. Brown in the area of commercial space policy. He also clerked for the Honorable John D. Butzner, Jr. of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Richmond, Virginia. He has served as Senior Counsel with major international law firms in the United States and Germany and as General Counsel to major technology firms.

Mr. Calhoun-Senghor earned his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his JD degree from Harvard Law School. He also was a Fulbright Scholar to Germany and has taught as an Adjunct Professor in Germany at the University of Bonn Law School since 2012 and at the University of Giessen Law School since 2023.

Mr. Calhoun-Senghor is licensed as a US attorney at law, a solicitor in England and Wales, and a German Rechtsanwalt. He speaks fluent English and German and is based in Munich, Germany.

 
 



Liv Senghor is a multi-lingual illustrator, graphic designer, writer, and animator based in Brooklyn, New York.

Born in Washington, DC, she moved to Munich, Germany at age twelve, where she attended, and graduated from, a German language high school. She also spent time living in Harbin, China, where she learned Mandarin.

She was accepted into New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts, where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film & TV. After graduation, she worked in post-production for New York City’s late–night TV industry. Her credits include: Full Frontal with Samantha Bee; The Rundown with Robin Thede; Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj; and The Amber Ruffin Show. Currently, she works as a graphic designer for the TV show, Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Ms. Senghor also has received recognition for her screenplays by Script Pipeline and the Stowe Story Lab, and has submitted scripts to Netflix.

Ron was born in Oakland, California. He served in the US military as a military police, journalist, and Armed Forces Radio host.

In 1963, he became the first US cabaret performer in Germany (member of the “Kleinen Renitenztheater Stuttgarts” with guest appearances with the “Stachelschwiene Berlin,” among others). He performed the first one-man shows and made TV and stage appearances throughout Europe as a singer, actor, and host. He hosted the TV music magazine “Musik-Szene” (ARD/WDR/ORF) for 7 years and anchored the English-language TV magazine “Focus on Europe,” broadcast by Deutsche Welle / PBS USA. He also had his own Saturday night TV show “Ronabend” (ARD/WDR). Ron has had over 800 television appearances. He also has performed with countless live bands in concert singing blues, jazz, swing, soul, and R&B. In 2007, he wrote the libretto and lyrics, and played the lead role, in his personal tribute to Dr. King in the musical, Martin Luther King – The King of Love. It premiered in the famous Berlin landmark, the Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche.

Ron also dubbed the German voices of film characters such as “Sebastian the Crab” for Disney’s film The Little Mermaid; “Francisco Flaminco” in National Geographic’s GEO KIDS; “Howie the Bear” on the CD-Rom Tuneland; and “Oogie Boogie” in Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas.

Ron also visits German high schools on his “Tour for Tolerance” against racism, xenophobia, and violence. Since 2001, he has visited over 100 schools throughout Germany.

In 2004, Ron received Germany’s highest civilian honor, the Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdientkreuz am Bande) from German President Dr. Horst Köhler, for his commitment in the fight against racism and xenophobia.

 
 



Max Medrisch besuchte Schulen in Deutschland und den U.S.A., studierte dort ebenso wie in München und schloss als M.B.A., Ph.D. und Dipl.Betriebswirt ab.

Er war Gebirgsjäger bei der Bundeswehr. Von 1981 - 1984 war er in der Kirch Unternehmensgruppe tätig, bevor er den Familienbetrieb Medrisch GmbH übernahm. Nach Fusion der Sparte Autozubehör befasste er sich neben Beirats- und Aufsichtsratsmandaten mit dem Ausbau und der Verwertung der Immobilien.

1996 gründete er dort einen seitdem sehr aktiven, privaten Jazzclub in Greifenberg.

Er ist seit 1986 mit seiner Frau Carmen verheiratet.

Er beschäftigt sich unter anderem mit Literatur, Segeln, Musik.
